Mitch was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he graduated from Farragut High School in 1983. Mitch majored in Political Science and minored in Sociology / Criminal Justice at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude in 1991 and received his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1994. Mitch is a supporting member of the Knoxville Bar Association and their activities. He is a contributing member of the University of Tennessee Law Alumni Association as well as Phi Beta Kappa.
